I have always wanted to stay on Moonstone Drive in Cambria. For our anniversary this year we booked a room for the night at the Fogcatcher Inn. We had an ocean view with a gas fireplace and a huge comfy King-sized bed.
Be prepared as the only heat in the room was the fireplace, we were fine but just be aware.
For dinner we chose to go to The Sea Chest which is just a 0.2 mile walk from the hotel. Get there ahead of their 5:30pm opening time as a line forms. They have delicious seafood and great service. They also have a very good wine list with some local wine that’s hard to come by anywhere else.
We enjoyed our stay at The Fogcatcher very much except for breakfast.
They do a buffet breakfast with “make it yourself” waffles. The scrambled eggs were in a warmer, hard and lukewarm. The dark roast coffee pot was empty and there was no one around to tell. Personally, I think they should skip the breakfast part and just give you a list of places to go in Cambria.
We chose to checkout and go over to Main Street and have breakfast at Linn’s, which was very good. They are famous for their pies and lingonberry jam.
They have old bicycles displayed on all the walls. See the photos below.
After breakfast we decided to go for a short hike in the Fiscalini Ranch. There are a number of interconnecting trails and you can choose to hike along the bluffs above the ocean or inland through the forest or a little of both which is what we chose.
It was very chilly and windy but clear and beautiful! There is even a monarch butterfly sanctuary on the ranch.
All in all it was a fabulous anniversary trip.
Until next time!
